20 – 70 – 10 in our Life

Differentiation is unfair because it is always corrupted by company politics, 20 -70 – 10 is just a way of separating the people who kiss the boss’s rear from those who don’t

This is a line that i read from a book by Jack and SUsy Welch, WINNING. A nice book that i suggest you all to read.
According to this writer (who’s famous of being a former CEO of GE and invented Sig Sigma theorem), 20 70 10 is a problem that we will face in works. Living in this awkward world, we have to face some nasty facts. It appears that, It is not just a matter of being a good (or even a great) performer, but somehow, it is becoming a matter of
how to behave in our life.

The top 20 percent are the boss’s head nodders and buddies, the 10 percent are the outspoken types who ask a difficult question and challenge the status quo. The middle 70 are just ducking and getting by. Acoording to the writer, this system will eventually
destroy itself. And the result just won’t be good enough to sustain the enterprise.

Differentiation, like as it has stated before above, is circuming in our life. We have to realize about it. Looking from my point of view as a student, i consider that this thought is a big punch for those who doesn’t want to admit a scale of differentiation.
Plenty of people still think that the best people (the 20 percent) are those who are the best. But, yeah, actually that is not totally true. Not TOTALLY true. There are some top performers that can not reach the top position. In a matter of fact, all is
just because the bureaucray.

In my own opinion, actually this kind of differentiation won’t stop. Because when you stop this kind of differentiation, that means you try to destroy the resigm (hmm , i can’t find a better proper word to describe this)
20 70 10 problem will always be there, and i personally think, it is just time for us to start thinking of whelches part that we want to involved in. It is not the problem of wrong system,wrong resigm. It is the problem of how we behave (like i have stated
before above) So, why not being a ducking type of person?

Does anyone want to be a top performers, but just because they don’t want to challenge the status quo, they become a failure person?
(not thinking of what you all defining what a failure is)

I have my own ways of thinking, and i assume that you all have a different ways of thinking too. Maybe, the ducking type person is the safest way, or maybe the 10 challenger of status quo is the best way. Hmm, this is just a glimpse of thought, because
me myself is still learning and studying and examining how people in this cruel world looking at the facts that lies beneath them. I can not say that what you think is wrong, and what i think is right. This is just a part of learning in this differentiated world
